Brad Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're looking at the Blue Ox Base Plate Adapter Brackets for Ready Brute Elite Tow Bars. If you have a Brute Elite and needed to work with your Blue Ox Base Plate, then these are the adapters for you. They simply replace your existing base plate attachment brackets with triple lug Blue Ox style. Now to get this installed is gonna be pretty simple, in fact, you're gonna be using your factory pins and you can see it pretty easily, this is just gonna slot into our Blue Ox. So to get this attached, you do have a little collar inside of here and you can see the size of our pin, it is able to be moved so just center that up, and then you're gonna want to take your pin here. And with these adapters it actually comes with new, thinner nylon lock nuts.
So we're gonna be using those, might as well with some fresh hardware there. So we'll just align this, we'll run this down and we're just using our allen wrench here. And then a three quarter inch socket to get this tightened down. And really, you're just gonna tighten this down to where this is nice and snug, but you still have a little bit of room. You can see it's floppy now.
We want it enough to where we can still move this but also not too tight to where it's bound up. So I'll grab my wrench and get this tightened down. I think that's pretty good because if I set this like that, it's not gonna flop around. But also, if I need to move this, it's no problem. I can still rotate this.
So I'm gonna keep this one here and I'll get my other side installed. So now with our adapter installed, we can actually adapt this to our Blue Ox Base Plate pretty easily. It's kind nice too, because once you slide the pin in, which is included, you can see this locking portion here. It makes it really nice to put our other pin in, snap this in place, and that's gonna keep that from moving. So all you have to do is attach the other side and the rest of your flat tow components and you're ready to hit the road.

Adapts your Ready Brute Elite tow bar so you can use it with a Blue Ox base plate.etrailer did an excellent job on my order for a base plate. I was apprehensive about "extra" costs associated with items coming into Canada as I have been taken by surprise before. etrailer advised me that the shipping cost was what I would be billed and there were no surprises - great service.
The Blue Ox BX2249 base plate install went OK. Just a warning, check the frame flange and hole height measurement before drilling. For the bolts to be center to the lower frame flange the base plate had to be installed at 1-1/16" from the top of the frame and not 7/8" as per the instructions. I called Blue Ox and their customer service was also good. They were fine with ensuring the bolt holes fit the frame correctly. You also have to relocate the hole for the air box.
All installed in 5 hours and very pleased. Thanks
