Video Transcript for ARB Awnings Single Side Wall Extension Review

Hi, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we have the ARB Side Wall or Windbreak Extension for your ARB awnings. This will fit your six foot, seven inch wide as well as your eight foot, two inch wide awnings. We'll take a look at how it works, and I'll also show you how to get it set up here at etrailer.com. It's a sunny and windy day here at etrailer. I took the windscreen off of my mic, so you could hear it.

But let's hop inside our awning here, and you can now hear the difference. So with the awning out, yes, you had some shade, but the shade kept moving as the sun would move, and with our windscreen as well as our extension piece here, it changes everything. So we'll delve into the features, I just wanted to show you a real world example of what I experienced when I go camping. This is made of the same material as your ARB awning. You have that same tan color scheme, same material, the polycotton canvas that is PU coated or polyurethane coated, that way it is waterproof, and you have a UPF of 50+.

So just like there's SPF for your skin, there's UPF for fabrics. So when you're outside camping, you have the sun, you have the wind, and you even have some rain, this is designed to hold up to it as long as you install it properly. Whenever I work with awnings and windbreaks, one of the first things I care about is how well does it hold up to extremely windy days. Because of its fabric, is it designed to stay sturdy and strong even in strong winds Well, the way the ARB extension does it is we have 1, 2, 3, 4 touch points at the bottom of the extension. And rather than thin guidelines or just grommets, the way this does it, we have webbing and straps, and then we have our four included stakes.

You have a stronger touch point to the stake, and then, that creates a stronger extension piece. I'm also mindful of, can I adjust it, so it does what I need it to do And a lot of people use it like this where we have it slanted, and that way, when the rain comes, the water just slides right off of the awning. This also creates more space on the inside of our awning for our tent and our campsite. But, if you want to, you can make the angle more extreme, set this even further out. Or if your campsite or your awning needs to be taller or shorter, that will change how the extension wall works too.

So one note there is if you are going to be setting this further out at a more steep angle, you are going to need extra guidelines, not included with this kit. The way this secures to the awning is we have these hook and loop patches. (patches crunching) That wrap around the rafter arms, and then secure. Because of that weight holding down to these arms, ARB made it where there's overlap of the poles, meaning there's two poles on top of each other, so that you have that extra stability. So it is designed for this wall. Personally, I would be very careful about how you attach this wall though, because you wanna make sure there's as little gap between your top awning and your awning side wall. So notice how as I secure the wall, I pull on it, just so it's as close to me as we can get. If you don't do that, you may get leaks here through the sides. The extension is going to be seven feet long, and that's measured from the end of one fabric side to where it connects to your rafter arms. When you do set this up, there's two ways you could do this. I, personally, if I'm by myself and it's a very windy day, I actually put down the stakes first and attach the end points before connecting this to the rafter arms, just so that I don't have this whipping around and potentially scratching up the vehicle. If you have a friend with you, you could just do this normally where you attach it to the arms and then continue on. Either way, please make sure it's always secured as you install it, set it up, as well as take it away. And when you're done with your adventures, this is what you have to pack it up with. So ideally, you'll roll up your windbreak. If you don't roll it up as neatly as we have here, that's okay, because there is a little bit of extra space there in the bag. This is also where you can put your tools, like your guidelines and your stakes, and then cinch it up with a drawstring at the end to keep things secure. And just like this, you can now put it inside your vehicle or other cargo carriers. So for me and for my adventures, I would go ahead and get the side wall or side windbreak, side extension, however you're planning on using it, because it adds so much to your current ARB awning. If you're looking for shade or you're looking for privacy or you're looking for protection from the elements, this adds a lot of that. In fact, I would also recommend taking a look at the Front Wall Extension for your awning if you really want to expand your setup. There is also the ARB Room Extension, which creates an entire room in one piece. If you had to pick between the two, your side wall is gonna be a lot more compact and folds up to be a lot lighter, so that might be something you'd prefer over the entire room. This is a look at the ARB Side Wall Extension for your ARB awnings, whether it's the six foot, seven awning or the eight foot, two awning. And you saw it here at etrailer.com.
