It sounds like there is a short somewhere in the system that is drawing power and draining the battery. The brake controller you have should only draw a few milliamps of power when not in use. The most likely shorts are a short to ground and a short to the blue wire.

I spoke with the folks at Curt about the issue you're experiencing. My contact in the technical services department tells me that since the proximity sensors are still working and since the camera is still functional, that it's extremely unlikely that the hitch or wiring harness installation caused the lines to disappear from the camera display. If the # CU94FR wiring or the # e98843 hitch was interfering somehow, those functions would very likely not work at all.

It could still be a ground problem. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light but can show up any time. Since the brake lights draw more constant power than any of the other functions it makes sense that a ground problem would show up when using the brakes.

The center exhaust on the 2013 Hyundai Veloster is fairly high up in relationship to where a hitch receiver would be. That is going to be a problem for any hitch mounted accessory. Interestingly enough the bike rack probably ended up protecting the bikes. The only option for this is to have an exhaust down turn, see link, to direct the exhaust downward instead of straight out. The only problem with this is finding one that fits the exhaust on a Veloster.

For your application I'd put a load resistor on the LED light you installed since that is what seems to have caused the issue. When you add LED lights to a system that wasn't built for them it tends to do weird things. If the brake controller seems to be operating correctly, then it is possible that the brakes on your trailer need to be adjusted. If you have manual adjust brakes, then you will need to rotate an adjustment dial inside of the brake assemblies at the bottom just under the magnet.
