Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Exact fit for what I was looking for. This rim matches the old 1980’s mobile home rims for a trailer build project I’m working on. Zero complaints with the rim, fast shipping, good customer service. I had to take one star off because of the price. Price gouging at $xxx a rim! Crazy.

by:

I found this to be very user-friendly very simple, very reliable very good

by:

As described, fast delivery and no special fees to get in Qc Canada, will do business again !!!

by:

It’s just what I ordered

by:

I needed a spare tire for my flatbed trailer but it takes an outdated wheel - the Dexstar 4 hole. No one else seems to have it because it was popular in the 1980s but not anymore. I am so thankful etrailer had what I needed. Ordering was easy and customer service was great when I had questions. Delivery was fast and reliable.

by:

I have never seen a rim like this, but go figure ETrailer had what I needed for our 1971 Red Dale camping trailer. We just needed a spare and knew we would be in a lot of trouble on the side of the road with a simple flat and no spare. Your not just gonna run down to the local tire shop and find this rim. Thank you again ETrailer, you saved my bacon again, oh yea Lori is on her game. Thank you young lady.

by:

Perfect transaction!

by:

This wheel is exactly what I needed, and fits the trailer perfect. It was a tough wheel to find, and etrailer provided great service helping to make sure it would fit my trailer. Excellent service - A+

by:

Perfect replacement for the wheel on our 1968 Prowler that I foolishly lost off the back of my flatbed truck. Thanks for getting us back on the road, etrailer!

by:

The rims I ordered fit perfectly and were exactly what I wanted. It took a lot less time than I expected to get them. The agent I spoke with was very polite and helpful.
I will recommend etrailer.com to my friends.

by:

Wheel arrived in 3 days of ordering, looks like a quality product and will order again for parts for my 1969 red dale trailer.
Thanks for prompt service and N/C shipping

by:

etrailer carried a product I couldn’t find elsewhere, and their shipping is just as fast as [online retailer] if not quicker!

I've had this for over 1 year on my trailer with no issues whatsoever. Perfect fit and very hard to find.

I have a 1977 Prowler 20 double axle trailer. what would be the proper wheel and tire for a spare?

Patrick B.

1/3/2014

To determine that, we need to what tires and wheels are currently on the trailer. The tire size will be on the sidewall of the tire and that will provide most of the information. The only other bit we would need, would be the GVWR, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, and the bolt pattern of the wheel. GVWR will be on the plate or engraving that indicates the other trailer capacities, usually it is on the frame close to the coupler. Bolt pattern will require some measuring, but I have linked to an article that will walk you through that procedure.

Excellent rim. Put a tire on it and havent needed to use it yet. It was bought so we would have a spare in case of a flat tire.

Best customer service, perfect quality, and I got it right on time. 100% recommended

We don't have a package that has the wheel part # AM20395 mounted to a tire but we do have them separately so that you can have them mounted local to you. For a tire we have the part # TR20515D which would work well as it is a 205/75R15.

You might be able to use a vintage wheel if the center-to-center distance from one bolt hole to the other bolt hole of your existing wheels is 9.44 inches (a little over 9-7/16 inches). We have the following vintage wheels: 13 inch wheel # AM20208 14 inch wheel # AM20312 15 x 5 inch wheel # AM20395 - this size wheel works with the ST205-75D15 tire size that you mentioned. Take the measurement and you will know if this rim will fit. Feel free to email me a picture of your wheel as well.

I have included an image that clarifies this dimension as well as an article that explains how to determine a wheel's bolt pattern. I have also attached...

Yes, and I have the perfect combination for you. For this, you will want a 15" wheel and ST205/75/D15 tire. I recommend purchasing these items separately as we do not have a pre-assembled wheel and tire combo in the dimensions you have posted. For a 15" wheel compatible with the 4 on 9.44 bolt pattern on your trailer's axles, I recommend using the Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel part # AM20395. This wheel retains a similar look to the wheels currently on your trailer and has a +.5 offset...

  • Vintage Trailer Wheel Needed for a 1972 Prowler Travel Trailer with Hub Centric Wheel

If this is the case, we do not stock a replacement wheel for your hub at this time. • Will ST250/90D15 Tire Fit Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel
The answer to your question is going to depend on the actual tire you have. I don't have an example for that size since it is not something we carry so I will use an ST205/75D15 like the # AM1ST92. This tire fits 15" x 5", 15" x 5-1/2", 15" x 6", and 15" x 6-1/2" rims.
