Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I received the item as ordered and it was shipped with UPS which is far superior to the other shipping company. Where Etrailer excels is their communication and speed with the shipping process. Within 2 hours of ordering I received an email stating item was shipped, then follow up emails stating item was delivered. Great job with customer service!

by:

My wheel came right on time.
Thanks

by:

The spring part seems weak. It has held up so far. Drove 3000 miles 1500 with a load of about 1200 lbs. Handles well on hiway but off road, like my gravel sandy clay road with wash boards, cattle guards and bumps, uneven terrain yet not serious off road altogether, the things are tipping at times and slowy becoming lower and less travel. Occasional the entire trailer bounces in air. These will need replacement before too much longer and seem a bit weak over all. Nice quiet sound and overall great but just not heavy enough to hold up off the smooth hiway

by:

The parts arrived ahead of schedule. The thing I like most are the informative videos. It leaves nothing to guess work

by:

Ms. Peyton,

OUTSTANDING! I could
not believe how fast the order arrived. It was in good shape and all the order was included. I will be a few week before I will start on my project of putting a sub-frame under my cargo trailer. I will send pictures when I get finished.

Thanks again for making the ordering process go smoothly. And the packaging and shipping team also.

Sincerely, Jerry Texas

With Ford's better idea, lining up all of the sleeves to neck down from 31/2 to 21/4, this locked everything together very nicely. Extremely well built.

Great for my spare tire!

by:

Gets the job done! Needed a mounted spare tire for my utility trailer and filled the need. Always fast service from etrailer and would not hesitate to shop from them again.

William

Thankfully I have not need to use the mounted spare yet, but having it available is a huge plus. Trailer is stored outside, but the wheel continues to look new with no visible rust or corrosion. Never disappoint with items purchase from etrailer, and they continue to be a primary source for parts and accessories for my trailers and trucks.

by:

Your company service was great it even came a day earlier than I was told I have the utmost trust in your company thank you very much.

Very hard to find products like this that are made in USA. Thank you for selling these. These are quality made, and I will be mounting US made Goodyear Endurance tires on them.

by:

These wheels are well made, I had no problems at all, the powder coat finish is pretty good, they seem to be true and accurate, very good wheels, and look nice too.

by:

Well, I think the USA wheel could and should be better than a made in China. That's why I bought it. To support a USA company and their employees. Upon getting them today, first thing I noticed is two wheels per box. I ordered 4 wheels. So two boxes. The wheels were not shipped tightly in this box and rolled around and clunked into each other. There were chips on wheels, paint missing where they collided. Packers need to cover these with bubble wrap and have them secured more. This would be for any wheels. Not just this one. I heard them clang as the UPS delivery guy put them on the ground. This needs improvement immediately. I then took the wheels to Discount tires where I was able to purchase USA made trailer tires. And found that one of the rims was bent. It was still usable but required lots of extra weights to balance it. So I'm giving 4 stars as there needs to be improvement here too. By time I find this out, well its really too late to do anything about it. The chips could have been prevented from better shipping detail to protect them. I'll have to seal them with some primer and paint so they won't rust in those places. I'm normally very happy with my purchases here at etrailer but this time was a bit of a disappointment.

I have attached links to a couple of helpful articles for tires and wheels you can check out. This wheel is a 15 inch with a 5 inch rim and has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.

  • Trailer Tire Replacement for 205/90-15 Size Tire
The 205/90-15 tire size is more of a passenger vehicle tire size than a trailer tire size - so the size exists, just not in the trailer tire industry. It sounds like someone slapped some car tires on your trailer which isn't necessarily dangerous, we just don't recommend doing it because trailer tires are built for loads while car tires are built more for comfort. I recommend the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel part # AM20422 as a common replacement option but we have other styles attached below if this one does not suite you.

The key for safe and legal trailering is to ensure that the lowest-rated component is rated adequately for the load on it. Extra capacity in other components is fine but you're...
