Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Service was fast, appeared to be quality .im not happy with the springs after a year.my boat and trailer weighs 4200 lbs and the rated gvwr on the trailer frame is 5000lbs.i replaced my original single leaf springs with the 3 leaf from etrailer,4 at 1250lb each should have equalled my gvwr and exceeded my boat weight.they appeared fine at first but gradually over the year they started sagging and my shackles started hitting the frame.the springs visibly flattened and lengthened causing the problem.after calling etrailer they informed me there is no warranty and nothing they can do.i think their spring rating is a bit off.im going with slightly heavier springs next time

  • Replacement Double Eye Leaf Spring That Measures Out To be 24 Inches Eye To Eye
Over time leaf springs flatten out after a constant use. With your spring measuring out to be 24 inches eye to eye The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e66SR will not work for you. You would need The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # SP-113275. This spring has a sturdy steel construction that has the nylon bushings included. It has a spring capacity of 1,000 pounds and has an axle capacity up to 2,000 pounds. From eye to eye on the spring is 23-1/2 inches, and has a spring width of 1-3/4 inches. You...

The answer to your question will depend on your current trailer setup. If you have a single axle trailer you could use the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Front, 1-1/4" Rear # APS4. For a tandem axle trailer you could use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Tall Front/Center/Rear # APT5. If you're using the # e66SR as replacement leaf springs and only need shackle bolts then you can use the # 166081. If you are planning to replace...

Based on the measurements you have given, the correct kit would be the # K71-657-00 Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit - Double-Eye Springs - Triple Axle - 8,000 lbs. You want to use the short equalizers. The hangers you have are designed for the 7-3/4" short version. It is critical because if you use the wrong size equalizer the springs will not compress and operate correctly. It would move the shackles into a horizontal position which would not allow the suspension to cycle. It should look...

  • Replacement Double-Eye Leaf Springs for 25-1/8 Eye Center Length
All of our double eye leaf springs are 1-3/4" wide. If you have 1-3/4" wide springs we have the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,500-lb Trailer Axles # e66SR. This spring has a 25-1/8" eye center to eye center measurement and is rated for 1,250lbs per side. You will want to verify that this is the correct capacity for your trailer. I recommend using a U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-10 as often the U-bolts are damaged or severely corroded. If your springs are different from what I have recommend...

  • 2,500 lb Axle Trailer Leaf Spring Recommendation
As long as you stay under the capacity for the springs you are fine. They are designed to be safe and reliable up to their capacity so going with heavier duty springs doesn't really gain anything. It just might give you a harsher ride quality. We have 2,500 lb axle springs as part # e66SR which would work well for you. These are 25-1/8 inches long.

  • Leaf Spring Recommendation for Boat Trailer with 4,425 lb Capacity and 26 inch Long Springs
You are on the right track for picking out springs. You would want to split the total trailer capacity in two and then go with that number when picking out springs. Our springs are rated per axle though. The closest to that would be the part # e66SR which is a 2,500 lb axle spring that measures 25-1/8 inches in length. Springs tend to stretch over time so yours being older and 26 inches would match well with this.

For the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End # e99SR you only need the bushing on the one end, the other end will either sit over a bolt or will fit into a hanger like part # 115706S. If you have a double-eye spring on your trailer then you'll need something like the 25-1/8" Long 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e66SR instead. Attached are some videos for you to check out as well.

You could also go with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1THDS02. These are very popular among people who are building smaller off-road campers. A few things to note with a fully loaded trailer is that you will want at least 3 inches of clearance above your tires and 2 to 2-1/2 inches of clearance from the top of your axle to the bottom of the frame where the leaf spring hangers are welded. To determine the capacity leaf springs you have on your 1996 Mobile Scout RFK-30 fifth-wheel trailer you should look on the frame of your trailer for a plate that will have the VIN number, there should also be a listing for the axle ratings too. You can also tell the weight capacity of the axle by measuring the diameter of the axle. Since the springs would be different rating you'll want to replace all of them so they all match.
