Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter
The Brite-Lite converts a 3 wire electrical system on a towing vehicle to a 2-wire system on the towed vehicle. Three wire systems use a separate wire to carry the brake signal. Two wire systems have the brake and turn signals sent along the same wire. Lab tests have shown Brite-Lite makes turn signals 65% brighter and brake lights 25% brighter than other brands. Brite-Lite can help prevent rear-end collisions in heavy traffic or under adverse conditions. Heavy-duty aluminum heat sink design effectively dissipates heat and outlasts other brands.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Brite-Lite wiring converter. The Brite-Lite converts a three wire electrical system on a towing vehicle to a two wire system on the towed vehicle. This unit allows the towed vehicle's lights to work in tandem with the towing vehicle's lights. The unit's going to help increase overall safety on the road. Testing does show that the Brite-Lite makes turn signals and brake lights brighter than other brands. The unit is very reliable.
It's going to feature an anodized aluminum heat sink to effectively dissipate heat, and it's going to use 16 gauge wiring for all the wires on the unit. Now this unit gets mounted on the towing vehicle by using the adhesive backing that's included. The right turn, left turn, and brake light wires on the towing vehicle needs to get connected to the input wires on the converter with butt connectors. Then you'll need to use a ring terminal to connect the ground wire from the converter to a clean metal surface on the towing vehicle. Now the white wire is going to be your ground wire, red wire is your brake wire, the yellow wire is for left turn, and the green wire is for right turn so you want to get these connected again to the wires of the towing vehicle using butt connectors. All the necessary connectors that are needed for your installation are not included, so those will need to be provided separately if you don't already have those. The two wires come out of the other side of the converter. These are going to get spliced into the wiring on the towing vehicle's wiring harness like a four-way flat or a seven-way connector. The yellow is left stop and turn, the green wire is right stop and turn, so once you have those spliced into the wiring harness like your four-way flat or seven-way, when you connect that to the harness on the towed vehicle everything's going to be working properly, the signal's going to be sent through that harness.
Again, this is designed to convert a three wire electrical system on your towing vehicle to the two wire system on the towed vehicle just to insure that the towed vehicle's lights work in tandem with the towing vehicle's lights. Measurements real quick of the actual converter. Going this direction that's going to give us a dimension of three inches. Going this direction it's going to measure about three and one quarter of an inch, and in the depth of the unit from front to back or the thickness is only going to measure about seven eighths of an inch thick. I will tell you what I like about this wiring converter. IT just plain WORKS exactly as it is supposed to.
I used quality crimp connectors that seal with heat and the installation was easy and after more than a year and all kinds of weather there have been no issues.
I am not surprised as I have bought from etrailer before and have never had a problem with an order or quality.
East to wire up.. made it a lot less headache to do without it
Product arrive reasonably fast. I installed it the same night it arrived and took me about 2 hours total (I like to work slow). So a bit of the back story:
I am customizing a 1992 Softail Custom. I basically chopped both fenders and deleted the center tail light. After some rewiring, I adapted the turn signals to run as tail lights as well. Nothing fancy, I simply ran an additional wire, socket and 140 size bulb to the turn signal assembly, seems crude but hey... it works, and the light housing is big enough to accommodate both bulbs. So now I had tail lights and turn signals but..... no brake lights.
The dilemma was that my brake light was wired to the center tail light which I deleted (It used a dual-filament bulb). Therefore, in order to make the turn signals work as brake lights as well I used the RM-732 to pull the brake light signal into the same bulb as the turn signals. The wiring is straight forward and the unit fits neatly on top of the battery under the seat. It's almost like they designed it for this bike. I'm very pleased with this purchase and I feel safer riding my bike now that my brake lights actually come on when I apply the brakes. Thank you e-trailer!
Excellent product. Awesome help by e-trailer. Mounted the converted to frame under Freightliner bed and spliced into existing j-box. Works great. Perfect fit and should last a long time.

Great product, simple fix for hooking up older trailer wiring to newer tow vehicles. Couldn’t be any easier, just wire in, hook up and go!
Works as expected, with no problems. I am happy with etrailer and their customer interactions. I installed a Roadmaster tow bar and brakes on my Honda CRV two years ago. I had a problem and they helped me solve it with a new brake light relay kit. All parts of the install on the toad and motorhome are functioning perfectly.

Using this on a dump truck. Second one I’ve had to put on this truck. Both have eventually failed. They appear to be sealed units. Brake lights have gone out on trailer side as well as one side blinker. Converting trailer to use the factory round pin.
Installed the Brite-Lite RM-732 wiring converter on a 2006 Volvo semi truck in order to convert the trailer wiring circuit from three wire to two wire for towing smaller trailers for various construction equipment. The device works as described. Instead of only having one brake light wire and L/R turn I now have brake lights combined with the L/R turn signals. Very well constructed converter and helpful sales staff.
Received the product in a timely manor and installed it. Every time I hooked the toad all the lights worked the proper way. I only towed with the Motorhome on several trips and I am looking forward to another traveling season.

For those of you that pull trailers with electric brakes behind both pick-ups and semi tractors this the converter that you will need to make the brake lights work when you are pulling with a semi. If the semi tractor needs to pull a mix of trailers you want to leave it with the 7 pin round and if the trailers with the 7 flat RV style plug needs to be used when a pick-up pulls it. With this converter and one each of the opposite plugs, you can build a adapter to use to get your brake lights working when pulling the lighter duty electric brake trailers with your semi tractor. Reasonably priced and high quality.
The C56196 Works flawlessly with LED lights on my trailer. I used the roadmaster 690 diode on each input wire. How ever I returned the RM-732 as it was a 3 to 2 wire and not a 2 to 3 wire.
Wired up exactly as directions stated. Worked perfect on my single axle semi. Wire this converter inline to my gooseneck trailer plug on semi. Everything works perfect.

My project was converting my 1972 Camaro rear two light system to a three light system from a 1978 Camaro donor wiring system. The original 1972 wiring was missing. Laura was the tech that helped me. I bought this product to connect my lights on my horse trailer to my 95 peterbilt. Wiring was a snap and within 20 minutes all my problems were solved! I highly recommend this product and HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying from etrailer.com!! I went to 3 local trailer dealers ( 2 of them are nationwide brand name manufacturers) and all of them had no clue to convert 3 wire light systems to a two wire. Within 5 minutes of looking on etrailer.com i ordered what I needed and it's history as they say!!!
I wish the body of the connector was larger to help keep the outer cover inside so the wires are'nt exposed.

Seems to work. Have not had trailer out yet. Had to run 2 extra wires from tow vehicle for separate turn system
The product was used on a sports car that was made with a separate turn light bulb then changed to a tail lights with one bulb for everything. This converter did the job so I now have tail, stop and turn lights on a duel filament bulb. Just installed it so do not know how long it will work. Delivery was on time. Tried one other brand prior to this which did not work. The packaging gives a phone number if there are any problems which good.

Not sure at the moment. Covid took a toll on our travels. Except for a brief trip of three days, we did not travel in 2020. However, I will note that all products worked as designed and lived up to all expectations on our three day mid summer trip.
