Surge-type actuator is zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance and comes with integrated, heavy-duty coupler. Unique roller design helps reduce resistance. For use with drum brakes.

Features:

  • Hydraulic actuator synchronizes trailer brakes with tow-vehicle brakes
  • Unique roller design reduces resistance during telescoping to create straight-line movement
  • Sturdy, durable steel construction resists bending in jackknife situations
  • Standard, heavy-duty coupler
  • Breakaway kit included
  • Zinc plating provides corrosion resistance
  • Bolt-on installation

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes
  • Ball size: 2-5/16"
  • Mounting: 3" wide channel tongue
  • Capacity: 8,000 lbs
  • Maximum tongue weight: 800 lbs
  • 1-Year warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

After 36,000 miles on my boat trailer, my previous Dexter Brake Actuator was looking pretty worn. A replacement was needed. Easy to install - just two bolts, filling the brake fluid reservoir and connecting the brake line.

by:

Product is exactly as advertised. The team kept me well informed of delivery. Definately recommend shopping at etrailer!

by:

I regret buying this brake actuator for my boat trailer. This is the exact same actuator that was on the trailer when I got it, but the original was 25 years old and neglected. I decided to buy a new actuator, same as original and also replace the brake lines, baking plate and I even got the drums turned.

Well I go to fill the master cylinder up with brake fluid, open the bleeder screw and try to bleed this unit. It is the most difficult process. This is the absolute worst choice in hydraulic brake actuators for drum brakes on a boat trailer. The ONLY way you can actuate the brakes is to either use a long fulcrum (long piece of angle iron) or chock the wheels and hook it to your truck and back up. This is extremely difficult, cumbersome and just plain antiquated with today's technology. This actuator could certainly be updated with modern design/engineering and make this process much easier.

DO NOT BUY THIS ACTUATOR!

If you use a longer 2 by 4 it is much easier to get leverage to move the coupler. Another way that you can bleed the brakes more efficiently is with a Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder item # PTW87030.

Product looks great, heavy-duty and ready for install! Would have given 5-Star if the shipping boxes weren't damaged.

by:

hello: I am restoring an older boat trailer. I needed a new surge brake assembly. After looking around for days, I came across your website. It was the easiest site to use with great pictures and all the information needed to make my decision in one place. ordering was just as easy. Free delivery and great prices will bring me back

by:

The customer service was excellent! The replacement winch strap I had originally ordered was backordered for months. ETrailor quickly notified me and offered several other options. I chose one of those options and the order was filled and shipped with only a few hours delay. The complete order arrived within a few days, well protected in a heavy duty box, and as described and expected. They are perfect replacements for my old worn out parts. Thanks!

by:

It is a little hard to get connected. Requires driving forward and turning some to get the latch to shut. I feel confidant that it is not going to come loose while I am driving.

by:

Very happy with the product so far. It looks to bolt up replacing the old hitch that was on the trailer. I have not had a chance to install T4079200 but I will update after I install...

by:

Ordered on Sunday early afternoon and received a notice that same day in late afternoon that the brake actuator had shipped. Don’t see that too often. Item was delivered in a few days and tracking the item was detailed. Brake actuator was a perfect fit in replacing an old worn out titan model 6 7500 lb with a titan 8000 lb. Easy to change out. Took maybe 20 min. Great service.

by:

my third Titan Model 6......seems like a new and improved version of the older ones!

Ordered it, they shipped it, all in a few days and arrived in great shape!

Thanks again,

Matt

Even return process was easy (my error on one item) and correct item delivered right away. Communication with vendor was excellent. Product descriptions on website accurate which made ordering a cinch. I highly recommend this vendor for any trailer parts needs.

by:

Just installed my new 8,000LB surge tongue, shipping was fast and installation was easy, great product and works just like its suppose to, would be nice if it had a reverse lock out but because of its design it was easy to make my own lock out.

by:

Very sturdy construction, latch works easily, and actuator woks very smoothly. Would definitely recommend!

by:

  • How Long of Frame Channel is Needed to Install Titan Model 6 Actuator
The mounting flange length of the Titan Model 6 actuators is 9-1/2 inches and the additional length the master cylinder adds to that is 6 inches so you'd want to have around 16 inches of frame channel to install a Titan Model 6 actuator like the part # T4079200 that you referenced.

  • Is Mounting Hole Spacing The Same On T4079200 And T4853100 Trailer Couplers
The mounting hole pattern is different on the # T4853100 coupler versus the pattern on the # T4079200 coupler. As you can see in the attached photos the bolt pattern is closer together on the side of the # T4079200 coupler than on the # T4853100. You may wind up with some of the mounting holes in the same place but you will need to drill new holes for some if not all of the holes. For a replacement designed for drum brakes you can use the # T4750820 which is the Model 10 and replaced the Titan 4750820. This has a 12,500 lb capacity and also fits a 3" channel. For your Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - 2-5/16 inch Ball - Bolt On - 8,000 lbs, part # T4079200, I would recommend you use a Fastway Universal Trailer Coupler Lock for 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch Couplers, part # FA86-0015-318. This coupler lock will fit virtually any coupler and should deter thieves from stealing your trailer. Before you order, I would recommend you measure the width of the lip on your # T4079200. If that measurement is less than 4-1/2 inches, you will...
