Video Transcript for Review of Maxxair RV Vents and Fans - Enclosed Trailer Parts - Operator Mechanism - MA10-20281K-1AF

Today we'll be taking a look at the replacement operator mechanism for the Maxxair MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe roof vents. This is going to be a direct replacement from Maxxair for that crucial component to actually open up your vent or fan. You can see when I turn this small portion that little hex portion turns. So that's what's going to open or close our vent and provide us with good circulation inside our RV or camper. This is a fit for the Maxxair MaxxFan Plus part number MA00-04500K or the Maxxair Deluxe MA00-070003 or MA00-0700K. That's for the powered lift roof vent.It doesn't come with any other hardware.

It just comes with the mechanism and then this small bushing to go over that portion there. It will reuse the same hardware to attach this in place. It'll get you back to working with your vent. If you need any other replacement parts for your Maxxair fan, check out etrailer.com for more replacement parts. That's going to do it for our look at the replacement operator mechanism for the Maxxair MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe roof vents..

Got the replacement (2nd shpmnt) with instruction pamphlet and all parts as originally expected. 1st shpmnt came missing part and no instructions. In fact, 1st shpmnt was not enclosed in MaxxAir packaging. Made me wonder.....? When I questioned the missing part in the 1st shpmnt, I got the same reply from two different people at eTrailer. Must have been looking at the same computer screen. Some times one wonders????????????

So far so good. I was a bit skeptical at first because is arrived without the coupler. Customer service implied I was not being truthful. Their position was, no way, not us but finally sent a replacement.

@Michael Sorry for the initial problems you had but glad everything got resolved and is working. Thank you for the update.

by:

Received the part fairly quickly and was able to install it without any problem. The instructions were good. I hesitate to give it higher ratings because it appears to be made from the same materials as the original which pretty much disintegrated after 4 years of very little use. Time will tell.

The Maxxair part continued to work all the way up until the time that I sold the RV!

by:

Perfect replacement for my Maxxair 7500K exhaust fan. It came with good instructions with pictures:-) The hardest part was climbing up the ladder of my motorhome.

by:

Well they are replacement parts, So there's not much to say about them except I'm Glad there was a "used" option for 1 of the items to help with the cost. My disappointment is with the MaxxAir fan that REQUIRED these parts after only just over 2 years with LOW use hours! MaxxAir really needs a better warranty for such a (supposedly) top of the line fan with a Top Price to go along with it! Or maybe offer the parts at a lower price point! I struggled with the decision of buying the parts or just getting a whole new fan! I opted for the parts ONLY because of the extra work it would have been to remove the calking & mounting bracket stuff. As it was I still had to do some pretty involved disassembly & R&R work to replace BOTH a bad lift motor AND broken ( Pot metal) Operator Mechanism!!! NOT impressed with my Maxxair roof vent AT ALL!!!!

by:

Perfect fit and instructions. Both hard to come by in this day and age. Thank you

by:

All as advertised. Easy self install and no issues with the operation of the fan. Clear precise instructions. Good product!

by:

WOW! Not only was this the exact replacement part, but the videos you provided were SO helpful and a perfect match for the job! The original wasn't just broken, it was literally shattered into 3 pieces! First time doing business with etrailer but it certainly won't be the last!

by:

Exact part. Easy parts look up and checkout. Communication from e-trailer on order and shipping status, part arrived early.
Easy to follow direction booklet included. 10 minute installation and 10 minutes of cleaning Maxxair blades, rain sensor, vent cover, shroud and Maxxair hood. In addition I used a seal cleaner and conditioner to renew vent cover seal. Vent cover was sticking before which may have led to part failure.
Vent works just like new!

Pictures show broken part and new part.

Thank you to all staff at etrailer for your efficiency in getting parts to customers.

Shawnee was very knowledgeable about this operating mechanism on our rv max’s air fan, she saved us a lot of money and time by providing us with a part instead of replacing the whole unit. She is a great asset to Etrailer and I will continue purchasing parts as needed. Thank you Shawnee!

by:

Was easy to replace both my maxxair fan openers and 1 year later both fans still open and close.

by:

This Replacement Operator Mechanism was exactly what we needed to make our MaxxAir Fan work like new. It was easy to install (after watching a couple of YouTube videos)
It was a smooth process to order from etrailer but it took awhile for them to get it back in stock. etrailer was great & kept us informed of the whole process It was shipped out to us fast once they got it.

The Maxxair replacement gearbox worked perfectly, easy install.

by:

Perfect replacement part and etrailer was helpful selecting the correct part. Very cheaply made from pot metal, should have been made to last longer.

by:

Works as advertised - Easy to install and there have been no issues to date. I'm using the trailer at least 3 weeks a month so the fan gets routine usage.

Im not exactly sure how the original part broke, but it did. This replacement part felt and looked stronger than the original. I had to climb up on the roof but it was a fairly quick and easy install. Part worked great. I was using the trailer for a solid 18 months with no break - so that vent opened and closed countless times without fail.

@Jason We're glad it's working well for you!

by:

This is the first time I replaced this part. The instructions provided were excellent. Install took me 30 minutes. Next time will take me 15 minutes now that I know what to expect. Install was from top of the roof.

by:

This part literally split down the middle on a trip and stripped out the drive to lower the bathroom vent. The entire Maxxair vent is complete junk and I have replaced 2 motors, 3 plastic bezels and 2 fan blades due to warpage plus the metal drive unit. This Maxxair unit is only 6 years old, why would anyone have to replace this many parts?? etrailer sent these new parts out in a timely manner in good condition. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Seems better built than the original. Time will tell how it holds up. There is quite alot of pressure on the mechanism. easily replaced the original.

by:

4 stars because an inherent problem has never been corrected. That being said, after all these years the Mfg'r still isn't putting spacers under the operating gear. Consequently it is impossible to properly install without creating undue torque on the gear which makes it crack. It is NECESSARY to put a couple small washers between the gear and the base before screwing down. Failure to do so will cost you another round of gears in the near future. If you choose to ignore this, well, so be it. (Could not get camera close enough for a clear picture).

Terry

Perfect. No problems.

by:

Easy replacement vs replacing entire maxx air fan.

by:

The part (x3) was on backorder for several months before I finally received it. Otherwise Etrailers customer service was always sending me updates on the status of the part until I actually received delivery.

Robin

8/18/2023

The part was easy enough for me to install myself on the MaxxFan airvent. To date the part is still doing what it is suppose to do lower and raise the arm of the airvent and no breakage has occured.

by:

My power vent wouldn't work, so I got on the roof of my RV and discovered that the Operator Mechanism was broke. I order a new one from etrailer and it's is still working great.

Tom

7/28/2023

It still works great after a year of use.

by:

Still OK after a year ,and with excellent service has usual from Etrailer

by:

Arrived quickly and was correct and functional. We're old and had to have an RV maintenance business do the install and it was flawless. It's worked perfectly ever since and to me it looked to be an improved version of the original.

  • Troubleshooting A MaxxAir MaxxFan Lid That Won't Open
If your roof vent lid won't open, even when using the manual lift knob, then the gears of the lift operator are most likely stripped out and the lift operator will need to be replaced. The Replacement Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF is compatible with models 4500K - 4900K, 4700N, and 4900N. Most likely you have one of these models but you can verify by getting up on your roof and lifting the lid by hand and checking the hinge of the lift arms to see if it uses the same lift operator...

  • Solution for MaxxAir MaxxFan that Clicks and Fan Won't Shut Off
Sounds like your roof vent lid isn't closing all the way when you ask it to which is why the fan isn't shutting off and also explains the clicking of the operator as it's trying to close it. In the past we've seen similar issues to this turn out to be fixed by replacing the operator with the part # MA10-20281K-1AF which is correct operator for your MaxxAir MaxxFan.

  • Operating Modes for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent MA00-04500K
The MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K has a powered lid which closes automatically when the rain sensor detects moisture or when you use the remote control or keypad. The fan on this vent will continue to run even with the lid closed if the unit is set to operate in the selectable ceiling fan mode. Operation of the fan is also controlled by the thermostat setting. I suggest making sure you do not have the ceiling fan operating mode engaged.

  • Popping Sound and No Lid Lift On MaxxFan Roof Vent
The serial number should be located on the base of the unit under the screen. I would need this to confirm parts but it's likely the correct one for you is the Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents part # MA10-20281K-1AF. The manual override handle won't hurt the unit, it is deigned so that you can still open the lid when there is a failure like you have.

The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent, # MA00-07500K probably has a faulty operator mechanism or lift motor. You may have already tried this, but push the manual knob in when the you've reached the fully-opened position to engage the locking mechanism.
