Video Transcript for Review of Maxxair RV Vent and Fan Parts - Replacement Lift Motor - MA10-20270

Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the replacement lift motor for your MaxxFan Plus roof vent. So if something's happened with that roof vent, it's gotten damaged, or it's just not working anymore, but you don't want to replace the whole thing. Everything else is working just fine. This is a way to keep that fan working for many more years without having to take out that whole unit and replace it with a completely new fan unit system. So let's take a closer look and make sure it's the right fit.

Just has this little plug that goes into the connection to the rest of the fan. And we'll have our two arms to connect into those mechanisms to lift and lower that vent lid. Works with several different models of fans. The list of those is on our product page here at etrailer.com so you can check with that to make sure that yours is a match for it. And this will be for obviously the electric fans, not the manual. It does not come with any mounting hardware so you will need to reuse the mounting hardware from the original to get this in place.

But that's really about all there is to it for our look at the replacement lift motor for your MaxxFan Plus roof vent. Hope this video's been helpful in deciding if this is the right part for you. We do have a lot of other replacement parts available here at etrailer.com and we also do have new fan units as well. So if you need to go down that road, we got you covered. Thanks for watching..

Thanks for the update and nice comments.
You
companies service has been great.

I bought a operator mechanism last year thru Amazon and other supplier.
It failed after 2 weeks but I didn't install it till 30days had passed and my claim was refused.
Reading reviews these units seem to be very unreliable.

I chose ETrailer re stock, price and the 60 day term hoping it might be made better.

I went on the roof to install my 1st order from you and found it looked the same.
I couldn't see a problem with the one I had. Installed yours and guess what, it wouldn't work either.
My neighbor has lots of experience with these fans.
Explained how the motor works and how high voltage (friction) is how it stops.

My knob has been very tight to move manually.
So it turns out my 2013 motor is the issue. He had a spare and loaned it to me and everything now works the way it should and the knob and gears are easy to turn.
My second order is to replace his and I will now have a spare for my second fan that will be a 2013 original.
10 years life on the 7500 Deluxe unit isn't something I'll complain about.

Thought this might be of interest to you.

Well they are replacement parts, So there's not much to say about them except I'm Glad there was a "used" option for 1 of the items to help with the cost. My disappointment is with the MaxxAir fan that REQUIRED these parts after only just over 2 years with LOW use hours! MaxxAir really needs a better warranty for such a (supposedly) top of the line fan with a Top Price to go along with it! Or maybe offer the parts at a lower price point! I struggled with the decision of buying the parts or just getting a whole new fan! I opted for the parts ONLY because of the extra work it would have been to remove the calking & mounting bracket stuff. As it was I still had to do some pretty involved disassembly & R&R work to replace BOTH a bad lift motor AND broken ( Pot metal) Operator Mechanism!!! NOT impressed with my Maxxair roof vent AT ALL!!!!

by:

This lift motor is just about dead and struggles to lift the cover every time we use the vent. Not sure if we got a bad one or if these motors are just junk. I guess they only last about a year and now I've got to think about purchasing another motor or just using the vent manually....

by:

Old gearbox locked up. This gearbox boltin placeand works well.

by:

The motor is exactly what I ordered and replaced the old one but my fan still doesn't
Work. I must have an electrical issue. I'll keep this one as a backup tho.

The package arrived ahead of schedule and I am pleased with that. We are full time RV'ers
and will come to this site as something else needs to be replaced.

by:

I received it three days after I placed the order. Had it installed in less than 30 minutes. The tricky part is matching the small aluminum sleeve to the two splined shafts for a proper fit.

@DavidN Great to hear. Thank you for the update.

The parts returned my Maxxfan to fully operational.

by:

Just what I needed to complete full remote operation to the Maxx Fan in my ATC toy hauler. The fan cover could be opened and closed manually, but I really wanted it returned to remote control use due to the distance was a little too high for my wife to reach. Great service and good products at reasonable prices, thank you so much!

by:

Fast delivery direct fit no modifications needed no special tools needed

by:

Part came in as advertised and on time, plugged in and worked fine. But the customer service is the take away here, they’re way over the top. Nice job.

by:

It was a perfect fit. The price was a somewhat high though.

by:

Products arrived quickly and as expected. I got them installed without any issues and the vent works as it should.

by:

Easy to replace and fixed my problem

by:

Was an easy installation and has not failed to operate when turned on. Seem to have been accurately represented. This would be my go to company for any future part needs.

by:

Fast and friendly service,

by:

I am very satisfied with e trailer, customer service is on point with a great attitude, would recommend them to anyone needing RV parts and will be using them in the future
Thank e trailer !

by:

My husband and myself installed this ourselves and went exactly as planned and continues to work well one year later. Glad we couldn’t find someone to do this for us. Would have cost us so much more because they wanted to replace the whole A/C unit!

by:

Exactly what we needed. Perfect fit.

by:

perfect fit; quick ship

by:

Excellent service!

by:

Installed easily! Great job!

by:

Worked good

by:

I think the replacement motor did the trick, now the vent cover opens and closes the way it was designed.

by:

Part worked perfectly

  • Replacing Fan Motor on Trailer Vent with MA10-20270
I checked with the manufacturer and the tiny screw you're seeing is a set screw. You will use an Allen wrench/key to remove this. I'm attaching a picture with a set of installation instructions for you to refer to when you're replacing the MaxxFan Lift Motor # MA10-20270 . We don't have the new/updated instructions available, but where it refers to a nut holding the blades on to the motor shaft, this is now a set screw like you're seeing. All of the other steps will remain the same.

  • Help Opening Vent Lid On MaxxAir Roof Vent Fan After Removing Lift Motor
It sounds like your Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF is not allowing you to open the vent lid after you removed the motor. As you have removed the Motor # MA10-20270 you can try to stick a screw driver up into the gear on the operator mechanism to turn it manually and raise your vent lid. This may be a 2 person job to provide slight pressure opening the vent lid while someone else turns a screw driver in the mechanism. A flat head as close to the size of the gear on the motor is going...

  • Trouble Removing the MaxxAir MaxxFan Lift Motor From Roof Vent
I think you may have missed a screw as there are 3 screws which hold the Lift Motor # MA10-20270 in place on your MaxxAir MaxxFan. With all 3 screws removed the motor should fall out fairly easily. Be sure you are removing the mounting screws and not the screws which hold the case together as there are also 3 of those.

  • Replacement Fan Motor for a MaxxFan 4951KS On a 2021 Grand Design Reflection
I spoke with MaxxFan and they said that is a fan motor causing the problem. The fan motor has an internal amperage short so when you increase speeds, the motor amperage is higher and the circuit board will close the lid and stop the fan. So all you're going to need to do is to replace your lift motor with the Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270.

As a first step, disconnect power to the fan for a few minutes, then reconnect power to reset the circuit board # MA10A21275K. If the fan fails again it could be the circuit board. Your rain sensor could incorrectly think rain is present on the rain sensor # MA34FR. Unplug rain sensor, leave unplugged and try again. If it begins working, it could be the sensor. If you cannot open the lid manually it may be a jammed or stripped operator # MA10-20281K-1AF, or the lift motor is shorted out...

I spoke with the folks at Airexcel, who ran through a few different troubleshooting scenarios with me. As a first step, disconnect power to the fan for a few minutes, then reconnect power to reset the circuit board. If that fails to solve the problem, there are other things you can check. Can you operate the lid manually with the knob. If you cannot, it's an indication that either the mechanism is jammed or the lift motor is shorted out and needs replacing. • Troubleshooting Vent Lid On MaxxAir MaxxFan 4500K Not Opening With New Circuit Board and Lift Motor
I reached out to MaxxAir as I was stumped since you had replaced both the parts already. Their tech said you will want to first check the voltage going into and coming out of the Circuit Board # MA10A21275K with a Meter # PT29ZR where the lift motor plug is on the circuit board. If the voltage is not 12 VDC coming out of the board then the board is bad. • How to Get to Replacement Lift Motor on MaxxFan RV Vent
While I don't have direct instructions about replacing the Lift Motor # MA10-20270, I can tell you how to gain access to the lift motor. You want to start by removing the screen on your MaxxFan. This is done by rotating the 4 locking tabs 180 degrees (red arrows). Once the screen is out of the way there will be 4 screws that you see. Remove them as well as the screw from the manual lift knob (green arrow). After you do this the bottom panel of your vent will move freely down and you have...

  • Troubleshooting the Vent Lid and Parts Needed For the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan
Most likely the problem with the lid not opening is a combination of the circuit board and the operating mechanism. You could be correct in needing the Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270 which is the correct replacement for the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-07500K. Based on what you are describing it sounds like this is coming from the motor. There wouldn't be anything that would leak out of the operator mechanism. I recommend wiping it up and keeping an eye on it to see if you can better identify where this is coming from. If it is the motor, we have the Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270 available as a replacement part. • Troubleshooting MaxxAir MaxxFan 4951 Motor Will Not Run
The first thing I would check on your MaxxAir MaxxFan 4951 is the power. It is possible the motor is not getting enough or any power which would explain the issue. You can check the 12V power using a multimeter like the # PT89ZR. Assuming the power checks out I would say that the motor is bad. The correct replacement motor is the Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270.

The correct replacement part number for Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan, is # MA10-20281K-1AF. The Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent is # MA10-20270. In order to test the motor on a MaxxAir MaxxFan similar to the Mini Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Manual Lift - 4 Speed - White # MA00-04301M you'll need to supply power directly to the motor itself; if the motor works when it receives power directly from the battery then the issue would be your touch pad or control board. For reference, the # MA10-20270 is designed to replace the lift motor on MaxxFan models 00-4501K, MA00-04500K, MA00-07000K, or MA00-07500K. If you can provide the model number...
