Curt Base Plates Safety Cable Replacement Review- Video

Curt Base Plates Safety Cable Replacement Review

Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be checking out the CURT Safety Cable for base plates. And today I have a perfect example on where this would be used. So I'm setting up this Jeep to be flat towed, and got a CURT base plate and a lot of the CURT base plates are going to come included with these cables. And the whole reason for 'em is that they're going to connect to your base plate, wrap around the frame of your vehicle. And that way in the event of an unlikely disconnect, if you have any failure here, the cables are gonna help keep everything connected together still. more

Blue Ox Safety Cables Review

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox safety cables for flat towed vehicles. Now these are pretty heavy duty cables rated at 7,500 pounds. So on a vehicle like a Jeep Wrangler that should be more than sufficient to be safe. The cable has some really nice features as a plastic coating is on it so that's gonna keep it from scratching your tow bar. You also have metal keepers here that act as a spring loaded stop here. That way it's not gonna accidentally disconnect and when you do need to disconnect, you can simply just push that down and also makes hooking up super easy as well. more

Curt Single Hook Coiled S-Hook Safety Cables Review- Video

Curt Single Hook Coiled S-Hook Safety Cables Review

Hey neighbors, it's Dustin here at etrailer, and today I've got the CURT Coiled Safety Cables. The coiled design is nice because when not in use, you can see we're not dragging the ground here, but when you are ready to use it it's easy enough to stretch over and hook on to the safety chain loops of your hitch. Our braided cables have a nice nylon coating, which if you've ever worked with braided cables you know sometimes they can get metal splinters on 'em, and that's no fun on your fingers. So this is really good to have. Also here, our S-hooks have a gate on them to help keep them in place, and they are zinc coated to help reduce rust and corrosion over time. The overall length of the cables when fully stretched out is 42 inches, which is gonna be great for most trailer and truck combinations or whichever tow vehicle you happen to have. more

Then we'll thread this right on down making a nice secure connection. Then we'll just apply a little bit of torque to that nut to make sure it stays in place. As you can see we've got a nice large reinforced loop here, so we've got full braided cable that's going to run the full length, reinforced here so we're not going to have any kind of fraying or any damage down the line that we'll have to deal with. There's a nice keeper here that's going to keep our coil intact and we won't have to worry about any kind of slippage or damage. The S hook itself is a zinc coated hook, so again that's going to be corrosion resistant, we won't have to worry about it going anywhere. more
