One thing many of our customers ask when they're purchasing a hitch for their Pilot, since they're planning on using it with a bike rack or cargo carrier is that when they have that installed on the hitch, what's going to happen with the back-up sensors Well, if you do have that installed, as soon as you put your vehicle in reverse, your back-up sensor will go off. But as soon as you put your vehicle back in drive, the alarm will go off and there will be no warning messages at all on the dash. One thing that does set this hitch apart from others on the market is its finish. It has a matte carbide powder coat finish, which we found has been very scratch and rust-resistant when you're comparing it to a standard gloss black or flat black powder coat finish. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Honda Civic - Curt

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Honda Civic we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt class one custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number C11391. Here's what our hitch is gonna look like, it is gonna sit just right below the bumper and that cross tube is gonna be visible but mainly what we're gonna see is we're gonna see that receiver tube sticking out which is gonna pretty close to flush with out back bumper so we're not gonna have to worry about bumping our knee or our shin when we're walking by.Now it is a class one hitch which means it's gonna give us that inch and a quarter by inch and quarter receiver tube opening and as you can see it's got that nice reinforced collar not only giving it the added strength but also it's just gonna give it an overall clean, finished look to it. Now the way we're gonna attach any of our accessories is gonna be right here to the hitch pin hole here and it's gonna accept a standard half inch pin and clip which are included which is always a nice added bonus. Now as far as the safety chain connection point's go it's gonna be a plate style welded to the bottom and we're gonna have plenty of room to get most sized hooks on or off and the slight off set from the hitch pin hole is gonna be nice because we're not gonna have to worry about any kind of interference if we're using a locking device. Now as far as the weight capacity goes our hitch is gonna feature a 200 pound tongue weight, which is gonna be the maximum force that is gonna be pushing down. It's also gonna have a 2,000 pound gross trailer weight rating which is gonna be the maximum amount that it can pull. Now with all that in mind I do want to mention you always want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that you're not gonna exceed the manufacturers weight rating. One thing I do want to mention is that Curt does recommend that you use a stabilization strap anytime that you're towing anything, any non trailer loads, or anything that doesn't have any tires on it such as a cargo carrier or a bike rack. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Honda Odyssey - Draw-Tite

Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Honda Odyssey, we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite class three trailer hitch receiver, part number 76025.Here's what our hitch looks like installed. Now what many of our customers with Honda Odysseys have complained about is that the other hitches on the market for the Odyssey, they hang down really low underneath the fascia. This one, however, is a completely different story. It's tucked up completely behind our fascia, giving us better looks, and also improving the ground clearance on the vehicle. So we don't have to worry about the hitch dragging on the ground, ever pulling in a steep driveway, or going up a steep incline. On the side of our receiver, you'll find two pin holes. The one closest to the front of the vehicle, which is the larger diameter hole, is our industry standard 5/8 of an inch standard hitch pin hole to secure any of our hitch-mounted accessories. more

That's gonna mean we're gonna be able to use anything from a standard ball mount, a cargo carrier, all the way up to a four bike rack. The way we're gonna mount all of our accessories is gonna be through this hole towards the front of the vehicle and it's gonna accept a standard five-eighths pin and clip, they're not included in our kit but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC3.The secondary hole towards the back of our receiver tube here is gonna be exclusively for the J-pin stabilization device. Today on our 2014 Honda Cross Tour, we'll be having a look at our best trailer hitch options. We have two hitches here today. On the top, we have the Draw-Tite, part number 24852, and on the bottom, we have the Curt, Part number C11002. Now one of the biggest differences we have found between the two hitches here today is when it comes to appearance. We found that the Curt hitch here looks the best of our two hitches when it's installed on our vehicle. And one of the reasons for this is that the frame of the hitch here, being a round, tubular design, really contours well to the curve on the rear fascia. Now the Draw-Tite hitch has this plate that's welded on the top of the frame of the hitch and the receiver itself. You can see how the plate sticks out well past the fascia and there's this large gap in between the hitch and the fascia itself and that takes away from the clean looks of the Cross Tour, I believe. Now the Draw-Tite hitch, if you notice this gap, is fairly large and the hitch actually sticks out pretty far past the fascia. more
