Today we'll be reviewing part number AMSC 2HD. This is a Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount for 2-Inch Hitches. This is cushioned to help protect the tow vehicle's drive line and hitch assembly, as well as the trailer's contents. Here on the inside of our shank is a polyurethane interior that acts a shock absorber, which is really going to help reduce bounce and vibration. This ball mount will function in the drop or the rise position. It's constructed of a double-laminated powder-coated steel and the finish on this ball mount is really going to help it stand up well against rust and corrosion. It does fit into a 2" by 2" square trailer hitch receiver. more

Hidden Hitch Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - 80240 Review

Today we're going to be reviewing part number 80240. This is the hidden hitch ball mount, rated at 6000 pounds. This bar mount does feature an angled cut here on the back of the shank which is going to allow it's easily slide into the receiver tube of our hitch. It is going to to fit a two inch by two inch receiver style hitch. When choosing a hitch ball or an accessory that does have a shank that mounts into the ball hole, you want to make sure that the shank of that accessory does not exceed one inch because that's the diameter that we have to work with here at our ball hole. A couple of other measurements that I'd like to over with you, the measurement from the center of hitch pinhole to the center of our ball hole is going to measure ten and one quarter of an inch. From the center if the hitch pinhole to the upright portion here, it's going to measure right at five inches. more

We'll first want to get our hitch height, this is going to be the measurement from the ground to the end side of the upper edge of our receiver tube. As you can see here, our measurement's about 20 1/4". To install our ball mount we'll slide the shank of the ball mount into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, slide through our pin and secure it with our clip. As you can see with it in the drop position our ball platform's about 12 1/4" above the ground. If this matches your trailer's coupler height this would be a good fit for you. We'll now flip it into the rise position. more

Today on our 2013 Toyota Rav4, we will be test fitting the Draw Tite Ball Mount with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop with a capacity of 7500 lbs., Part #2923. We will begin out test fit by getting our hitch height, this is the measurement from ground to the inside top edge of our receiver tube. So our Rav4's hitch height is about 13 inches. We will now take our ball mount install it in the drop position being sure to line up our pin holes and securing it with a pin and clip. We will not take a measurement from the ground to the top of our ball platform and this will be around 11 inches. Make sure to measure your trailer height when your trailer is level. Measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If your measurement matches ours, this would be a correct fit for you. We will now turn our ball mount to the rise position. more

To begin our test fit, we'll measure our hitch height from the ground to the inside of the top receiver tube of our hitch. Our measurement here is about 13 inches. We will slide the shank of the ball mount into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, slide through our pin and secure it with a clip. When installed, the height of our ball mount will be equal to our hitch height. Make sure to measure your trailer height when your trailer is level. Measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If your measurement matches ours, this would be a correct fit for you. By removing our pin and clip, we can rotate to the left exposing our inch and 7/8 inch ball. more

In order to take advantage of that, we need to make sure that our hitch balls are in this position and then we can pull the two pins here on the back, flip this over to a stowed position, reinsert our pins and clips to secure it and then it gives us that nice flushed design at the back of our vehicle that we are looking for and it takes our mounting platform out of the way. This is also fully adjustable and it moves an increments of one inch so you can adjust it to best suite your towing application. Once you have it to the desired height, you can then reinsert the pins and secure them with the clips on the other side. more

This is the measurement from the ground to the inside top of the receiver tube. we'll get a measurement of about 20 1/2 inches. Keep in mind this measurement may vary due to tar size, hitch style or other after market accessories. We'll nor begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch. Once secured with the pin and clip, we'll go ahead and measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform, getting a measurement of about 18 1/4 of an inch. Now if your vehicle's hitch height matches ours and your trailer's right height matches this measurement, this should be an appropriate ball mount for you. We can now flip the ball mount over into the rise position and again measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform and this position, this measurement if about 21 1/2 inches. Again, if your trailer's right height matches this measurement, this should be an appropriate ball mount for you.
