Review of Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - AMSC10- Video

Today we're taking a look at the convertible ball mount for two inch hitches. Now this ball mount simply lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank, which is this portion here, it slides into the vehicle's hitch receiver, and the ball platform provides a mounting point for a hitch ball, which is sold separately, and then you could connect it to your trailer's coupler. Now, one of the things that sets this apart from any other ball mount out there on the market is internally, so in this shank . This shank's a hollow design. Internally, there's a polyurethane interior that acts as a shock absorber, so that's going to reduce bounce and rhythmic vibrations so it really helps protect the tow vehicle's driveline and hitch assembly as well as the trailer's content, so as you accelerate or break, this polyurethane interior acts as that shock absorber. more

Curt Towing Starter Kit Review C45554- Video

Today we're going to be taking a look at Curt's towing starter kit for 2" hitches, part number C45554. You've purchased your trailer and your hitch, got it all installed, now you need a way to attach the two together. This start kit's going to be a great way to get you set up and down the road, and keep everything nice and secure while you're doing it. Included in the kit, you're going to get a 5/8" hitch pin and clip, a locking 5/8" hitch pin, two sets of keys for your lock, a cover for your 2" hitch when you're not using your ball mount, you'll get a ball mount that has a 4" drop or a 2" rise. It's currently in the drop position. As well as a 2" ball that comes pre-installed on the ball mount.This is nice because some of these balls have a very high torque requirement to get them attached to your ball mount, and you may or may not have the appropriate tools to get that torqued out. more

Today we're going to take a look at the Weigh Safe 180 Hitch Two Ball Mount with stainless steel balls. This is going to work with 3" hitches. It's going to be that 3 by 3" hitch opening, and it's going to have a max drop of 8" and a max rise of 8" as well. That's measuring from the inside top edge of the hitch to the ball mount top surface here. The nicest thing that I like about the 180 hitch ball mount is that it's going to be a really nice-looking, well-designed ball mount. The shank and ball mount surface are going to be made of a solid block aluminum design. more

Today we're gonna take a look at the Fast way Flash self locking adjustable aluminum 2 ball mount, for 2 1/2 inch hitch with a 6 inch drop and a 7 inch rise.Now this is an adjustable ball mount, makes it very easy for you to haul different trailers.You can see the ball platform can be adjusted in increments of 1 inch, so that you can easily switch between trailers that have different tongue heights.The ball platform is also reversible, lets you swap between 2 different size hitch balls, 2 5/16, or a 2 inch.And the shank portion right here, that's where it will slide into your 2 1/2 inch receiver opening.Now this does use a nice convenient self-locking system that will lock the ball mount to the receiver tube, and then you can lock the ball platform to the ball mount itself.They are built in locks, so they can't get lost like a lot of your other hitch locks, and if you notice they have these lock seals on them, which lets, allows it to double seal that, keep out any water, helps resist corrosion.Requires no maintenance, and it basically uses these pick resistant tube style keys, 4 of them you can see are included.But just to show you how to lock this to your hitch receiver when you slide it in, what you'll go ahead and do is open the lock seal, just like that.And then we'll take our key and turn it 180 degrees, and when you do that, this locking pin here will retract inside the shank, just like that.Slide this into your 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, line it up with the hitch pin hole in your hitch, and then just turn it back 180 degrees.And if you notice, this pin will expand out, and it will lock it into your hitch receiver tube, just like that.Take the key out, just put your seal back on there, and you're all locked to your hitch receiver.Now the shank is a machine from a nice solid piece of aircraft grade aluminum, the style of aluminum produces a nice lightweight, yet strong ball mount, avoids any welds which can cause weak points that might break.And if you notice the whole ball mount has a nice finish to it, to create a high quality appearance.The balls themselves are a 303 stainless steel construction, the 303 stainless steel is great for marine applications, and it's highly resistant to corrosion.This part is made in the USA.A few specs again, it's designed to fit in a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, the ball diameters you can choose from 2 5/16 or 2 inch.Towing capacity will just depend on which ball you use, if you use the larger 2 5/16 diameter it's 10,000 pounds, and that's stamped on top of the ball, and if you use the 2 inch ball, it's 8000 pounds.Tongue weight capacity overall will bee 1000 pounds.Now the maximum drop, I have it in the maximum drop position right now, that's measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform, so you can see, there's your 6 inch maximum drop.If you flip this over and put this in the rise position, this will be your maximum rise, again top of the shank, top of the ball platform.Maximum rise will be 7 inches.Now the distance form the center of this hitch-pin hole to the back of this upright bar, if we put our ruler on that, you can see is right at 4 1/4 inches.And the distance from the center of this hitch-pin hole, to the center of the hitch ball itself, that is going to be right at 8 1/2 inches.And the last thing I want to do is just demonstrate this platform, the ball platform, how you can adjust it to different heights, or reverse it.So again, if we take our key here, and let's just open up the lock seal.Go ahead and put our key in there, and you just again, turn it 180 degrees, and after you turn 180 degrees it releases it, you can slide it off, and as we mentioned, if you want to use the 2 inch ball, just flip it over, and slide it on that way, or if you want to stay with the 2 5/16, just flip it that way.And then here's your 1 inch increments that you can set for your correct height adjustment.So once you get it into the correct height that you want, you just line it up with the hole.And once you get it lined up, just go ahead and turn your lock.There we go, it lines up, it locks into place, put your seal back on, and then you have it locked into whichever height you need.Simple as that.But that should do it for the review on the Fast way Flash self-locking adjustable aluminum 2 ball mount, for a 2 1/2 hitch, with a 6 inch drop and a 7 inch rise. more

Fastway Solid-Tow Adjustable 3-Ball Mount Review- Video

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Fastway line of solid tow adjustable ball mounts with three stainless steel balls.Now, the adjustability of this ball mount helps out a lot when it comes to trailering on both sides. Basically a level trailer is gonna spread the load out evenly across that suspension system, so we're not gonna have to worry about maybe if we've got it tipped up, the front axle not doing its work, and it's putting all that load on the rear axle.Also, because the trailer's gonna be pushing straight on the back of the truck, we're gonna have better stopping power. As we come to a stop, we're not gonna have the back of the trunk hunker down, or potentially get lifted slightly from the weight or angle of that trailer continuing in that direction.And with today's trucks, they're getting nicer and nicer looking. It's gonna blend right in. It's gonna add some appeal to the back of the car that we didn't get with the old steel hitches. Typically, those we're just black powder coat or painted. more
