How to Install a Brake Controller in a 2015 Toyota Tundra with Factory 7-Way
Question:
I have a new 2015 Toyota Tundra 5.7 ext cab standard bed and am transferring my prodigy p2 over from my 2009 Mercedes ml320 blutec SUV. During the trade in this week, I disconnected the prodigy controller but did not take the brake wiring harness that connects to the back of the prodigy. Since I had it all professionally installed, I dont know if there was a wiring harness that I should have disconnected or not. Do you know? And would it plug into my new Tundra or do I need to purchase a specific harness? Also, the 2015 Toyota Tundra says the tow pkg includes the plug in brake control adaptor behind the left side kick panel next to the drivers left foot, not behind the dash. Is your cable going to be long enough? One more thing, the Tekonsha website says the harness needed is a 3017-S. Is the 3017-P the same? Thank you,

Helpful Expert Reply:
To install your Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885 in your 2015 Toyota Tundra all you will need is the harness part # 3031-P that you referenced. The harness that was used to install this controller in your Mercedes wouldn't have worked so don't worry about not grabbing it as well.
The harness would be long enough to go from the P2 to the port behind the left side kick panel next to the drivers left foot.
The # 3031-S harness would be used if you had a non-Tekonsha brake controller. Since you are planning on using a P2 the # 3031-P would be the correct harness.
