Hitch and Compatible Cargo Carrier for a 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport
Question:
Reading some reviews seem to indicate the up position may be an issue for some vehicles. Has this item been tested on a 2008 Toyota Higlander Sport. I will have to add a hitch!

Since you will need a hitch, we should look at those first. I recommend the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # 13534, for your 2008 Toyota Highlander. I have included a video of this hitch being installed on a similar vehicle as well as instructions below.
When the 20x60 Folding Cargo Carrier, # e98874, is folded up, most people are concerned that it will touch or rub against their vehicle when folded for storage. The way around this is to make sure you have plenty of clearance before installation. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole, after it has been installed, to the furthest point on the rear of the vehicle. If it is less than 9-1/2 inches, this carrier will not work when folded. If it is more then the carrier will work great.
We do have other similar carriers with more clearance. The 20x48 Folding Cargo Carrier, # 6502, offers 7-1/2 inches of clearance when it is folded up. I have included a link to the instructions below.
