Timbren Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2008 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello. I read in one of the reviews that the gap that should be there when installed in a honda pilot is non existent. My question is can I shave the rubber by 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch to get the recommended clearance? Or is the review wrong in some way? Thank you!

Under normal circumstances there will be small gap when the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # THROD2 is installed on a Honda Pilot like your 2008 Honda Pilot. I read the review you referenced and the customer that didn't have the gap could have had worn out springs or even had more weight in the cargo area of his Pilot that took up that gap when he checked it.

The reviewer didn't mention the year of his Pilot, but since this kit can fit models that go all the way back to 2003 it is very possible the springs in his Pilot have worn out and are sagging from years of towing. Since he bought this kit he clearly tows with his vehicle so this is a likely possibility.

There are several other reviews that don't mention this happening so I wouldn't consider it the norm for this install.

Although it's not normally recommended, we have heard of some people who have trimmed or shaved off a section of their Timbren.
