Trailer Hitch Recommendation For 2015 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2015 Forester, looking for a class 1 with the cross bar hidden, 1 1/4 inch receiver, requires a small sq.cut in the lower part of the plastic bumper. Do you carry such a hitch? Thanks

Due to the design of the trailer hitches we offer for your 2015 Subaru Forester, the cross beam of our hitches are at the same height as the receiver opening.
Some trimming of the heat shield may be required when installing the hitches we offer but the hitches we carry do not require cutting the bumper.
I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75876. This is a Class lll hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached an installation video for this hitch on a 2015 Forester you can check out. The Class lll hitch will give you more options when you decide to tow, or carry any cargo or other hitch-mounted accessories. You can always carry lighter items with the Class lll hitch, but if you install a lighter duty hitch, you may not be able to carry some of the items you want to in the future.
If you are planning on towing with your Forester, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, part # 989900. This kit comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls, the pin and clip and a handy storage bag. I have attached a product review video for this kit.
If a trailer connector is needed I recommend part # C56040. This is a simple installation. You just locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and you then have a 4-way connector at the rear of your vehicle. You can take a look at the installation video I have provided for the wiring harness.
Anytime you are working with electrical connections I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
If you are planning on using the hitch for cargo or a bike carrier, just let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.
