Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller Recommendation for Thor Ace Motor Home on Ford F53 Chassis
Question:
I recently purchased a Thor ACE RV 27 foot and I am looking for a brake controller for it. I am not sure what to buy. It is a ford F53 chassis. What do you recommend and what else is necessary to install it? Are there install instructions I could look through before deciding to install it myself?

Among the most popular and reliable trailer brake controllers we offer is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This unit is of the proportional type (rather than the time-delay variety - please see the linked article) and can handle up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies). It is also compatible with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes.
You will need a brake controller installation kit along with the P2. Use part # ETBC7, which includes a 7-way RV-style connector, circuit breakers, connectors, etc. Given the length of your motor home you will also need additional wiring, part # 10-2-1 from Deka.
You F53 chassis, depending on its year, may have a brake control port up under the dash behind the instrument cluster. If you can locate such a port on your motor home you can use a quick connect harness # 3034-P rather than hard-wire the controller.
I have also linked you to two articles on brake controller installations and to the items' install instructions.
