How to Determine Towing Capacity for a 2004.5 Dodge Ram Cummins
Question:
2004.5 Dodge ram Quad cab Diesel 5.9 4 speed auto trans. Has SandB cold air intake with scoop, intercooler, Banks Monster exhaust, Banks Six gun tuner with speed loader controlled by Banks IQ 2.0. I have the short bed with a pull rite 16k slide glide hitch box. So the simple question is can I pull a 5th wheel camper with a dry weight of 12900 and total weight of 16000. And if so how about dry weight 14000 and total of 18000. The truck also has front leveling of 2.5inch and sits on load D 35inch michelins. I cant find an answers. Thanks so much

The final authority on what your towing capacity will be the owners manual of your 2004.5 Dodge Ram. Without knowing whether you have a 2500 or 3500 would make it pretty hard to determine.
You also need to consider that even though you have modified your vehicle you still are limited to the factory capacity for your truck. Taller tire and lift kits can make it more difficult to tow the vehicle level, but it's still possible. Capacities are more than just the power the engine produces. You also need to consider the ratings for the suspension, braking, transmission etc.
