DOT Trailer Tire Recommendation to Replace a 18.5x8.5x8 Tire

Question:

Ive been reading the forum questions from folks with double boat trailers and I have no idea how they could utilize a 4.80 x 12 size tire on a trailer carrying nearly 2000 lbs. My double trailer came with 18 x 8.50 x 8 which had a much wider footprint and stability. My tires also state inch not for highway use! What tire should I get this IS for highwsy use??

The closest trailer tire size we offer to your 18.5x8.5x8 tire size would be a 215/60-8. This is essentially the same size as what you have. For a replacement tire I would recommend the part # AM1HP28. This is a DOT tire that has 1,165 lbs of capacity per tire when inflated to 70 psi that should work well for you.

I attached an FAQ article on trailer tires for you to check out as well.
