In order for the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box, # SR7018, to fit on your 2011 Subaru Outback, the crossbars must have a spread of either 25-7/8 inches, 27-7/8 inches, or 29-7/8 inches. This cargo box will work with round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars.
To ensure your rear hatch is able to fully open when the cargo box is mounted, you will want to measure the distance from the center of your front crossbar to the rear hatch seam. If your front crossbar is adjustable, move it forward as far as it will go prior to measuring. You need a minimum clearance of 44 1/2 inches for the rear hatch of your Outback to fully open with the cargo box attached.
For ease of loading and unloading your cargo box, I recommend using a tire step like the HitchMate Adjustable Step, # HE4040. I have attached a video for you to check out.
