Should a Jack Get Hard to Crank Halfway Through its Travel

Question:

Hi Guys, I have a bulldog jack on the trailer that I purchased, with a optional 5,000 jack, 7,000 Static, 5,000 lift. The trailer is a Hallmark 24 foot V enclosed, we use to haul our drag car and all the other stuff to and from the track which is a 80 mile trip one way, any way our problem is that the jack seems to work just fine until you reack about half the distance to remove the trailer from the 2 5/16 ball, and from that point on you have to use TWO hands and hire The Hulk to finish the job, this just doesnt seem right. I for got to mention that this is a top wind, not a side wind. Do you think that there is a problem with the jack, and would a side wind work better, or is just the way it works. The problem in the same if the trailer is empty or loaded. thanks

It does sound like there is something that has damaged the internals of your current jack right at about halfway up. Regardless of top-wind or side-wind this should not happen. Either style would work well as a replacement for you. The part # TJA-5000S-B that you referenced would be a great choice. I attached a review video for you to check out.
