Installing Brake Controller and 7-Way on 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with Tow Package

Question:

Hello, Im trying to put a 7 way plug and electronic brake package on this vehicle 07 FJ cruiser trd with tow package, but all the guides Ive seen look to only cover the standard version of this vehicle. What are the requirements for a vehicle that has the factory tow package?

From your description, I'm assuming your FJ Cruiser has the factory equipped 4 pole trailer connector. To install a controller on your vehicle, you'd need our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. You'll also need to choose a brake controller. I can highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885.

The install kit includes everything needed to install a brake controller, including the adapter needed to convert the existing 4-pole to a 7way trailer connector. All wire, hardware and circuit breakers are also included. I'll link you to our Brake Controller Install Guide as well as to an install video.

The 4-pole Trailer Connector w/ Modulite, part # 118405 wouldn't be needed unless your FJ didn't already have a 4-pole trailer connector.
