Pivoting Fork-Mount Roof Rack Bike Carrier For Tandem Bike On Toyota Prius V
Question:
Im trying to find a fork mount pivoting roof carrierto carry a tandem on my Prius V. The tandem is a buddybike BB104-AL and is shorter and lower than the average tandem. We tried it with a friends yakima sidewinder, but the wheelbase was too short for the tube to be seated in the tube cradle. The Thule 558p or Rockymount Tandem R4 would work lengthwise, but they dont have the swing out pivot and were not sure there will be enough clearance distance from the car to mount and pivot the bike without hitting the window or car. Is there any way to determine this in advance before we purchase? THANKS!!!!

If you do not have a factory installed roof rack, and if you do not have the Thule Rapid Aero, AeroBlade, or Xsporter crossbars, the pivoting fork-mounted bike rack for tandem bikes I recommend is part # TH558P. This carrier does require a minimum crossbar spread of 24 inches.
