Roof Mounted Tandem Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon

We have started riding a tandem and would like a roof top carrier compatible with our 2012 Subaru Outback. The car has retractable crossbars on the cars roof rack. Do you have any tandem racks that would be recommended for our 2012 Outback?

I did some investigating and found a solution that will allow you to carry your tandem bike on the roof of your 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon. The solution does require adding an alternate set of crossbars to the vehicle because none of the tandem racks fit the factory crossbars on your Outback.

To start with you will need to use the complete Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 and 53" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420. These will attach to the side rails on the vehicle. Once in place, you can use the Thule Tandem Roof Mounted Bike Rack, # TH558P. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video review of the rack for you.
