What Would Happen if a Diode Received Power on Both Inputs at the Same Time

Question:

Good evening, My question is what would happen if both inputs on a diode used on towbar received power at same time? An example would be say the brake was applied on RV and say the remote of the tow vehicle was pressed to lock vehicle being towed or tail lights on RV on same time as vehicle in lights are on. I can only think of three possible outcomes. 1. One input takes priority and no problems 2. The signals just cancel themselves out and no problems 3. Power coming in both channels at the same time would create a failure.

If the vehicle is wired up correctly and does need diodes based on the lighting system being used there should not be a situation in which power was sent to both inputs at the same time.

Diode # RM-790 is rated for 85 amps and there is basically a zero percent chance that the vehicle and tow bar wiring combined could create that much draw. So in other words it should still work just fine.

If you can tell me the year, make, and model in question I can determine which light kit options are available as well as any accessories that may be required for a given light system.

I have also included a helpful article, linked to the right, on tow bar wiring for you.
