Gooseneck Trailer Running Lights Stay On All the Time When Connected to Truck
Question:
the running lights on my gooseneck stock trailer stay on when the plug is inserted in the truck receiver. Could the problem be in the truck wiring or the trailer. All the brakes, brake lights, and turn signals operate fine, but the running lights stay on all the time.

Expert Reply:
The likely culprit is a dirty or corroded connector on either the trailer or the truck. Make sure each is clean and free of corrosion inside and out. Corrosion could be causing a short between the running light circuit and the 12 volt circuit in the trailer connector.
If that does not solve the issue then make sure the circuit for running lights on the truck side is in the 11 oclock position if looking at the pins. And on the trailer side make sure the running light wire is in the 1 oclock position if looking at the face of the plug.
