Size of Bolts Used for Installing Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch on 2004 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey and just received the Draw-Tite trailer hitch. I was wondering what size the bolts are so that I can use the right tap to clean the welded nuts as they are pretty rusty and dont thread easily. Thanks

The Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, part # 75270 uses 12mm-1.25 bolt.

If you have difficulty finding a thread tap, you can try using a spray lubricant and a round wire brush, like the one on a battery terminal cleaner such as part # DW00254. Soak the threads, and then wait a few minutes. Spray again and give the threads a good scrub with the brush, then flush out any residue with some more spray. You might need to repeat this a few times. It might go without saying, but please wear eye protection.

If you can obtain another 12M-1.25 bolt, you can also make your own tap as shown in the video I've linked.
