Longer Pin Box for 5th Wheel Trailer Using a Lippert 1621 Pin Box

Question:

I have lppi1621 pinbox. I just bought a new truck and had my 5th wheel slider transfrered. In hooking up the truck I noticed the camper is extremely close to the cab compared to my lasr t truck. When hooked up in the foward posistion I cannot let the tailgate down withount hitting the knobs on the fromt of the camper. Can I get a longer pin box to help this?

You could use a Sidewinder pin box, # RP34FR. When using a Sidewinder you will need to leave the slider locked in the towing position. Sliding it back would no longer be needed since the pivot point will be moved back 22 inches.

Any of these will move the pivot point of the trailer back 22 inches.

If you lower the tailgate when hooking up the trailer then you also may be interested in a 5th wheel tailgate. I would need to know the year, make, and model of the truck to determine if we have a 5th wheel tailgate that will work.

A 5th wheel tailgate has a lower section at the top center of the tailgate to allow the trailer pin box to pass over without lowering the tailgate. As an example, take a look at # VGM-07-100. This particular model fits certain GMC and Chevy trucks. Others are available for different years, makes, and models.
