Recommended Brake Controller for Tri-Axle Trailer Towed by 2003 Ford Expedition
Question:
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition and will be towing a tri-axle boat trailer with electric brakes on all 6 wheels. What do you recommend for a brake controller? Thanks for your help.

I would recommend a proportional controller. A proportional controller uses an internal sensor that determines how quickly and at what intensity the tow vehicle is braking. It will then send the appropriate amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so that the tow vehicle and trailer stop at the same rate. This saves a great amount of wear and tear on the braking systems of the vehicle and trailer.
The Tekonsha P2, part # 90885 is rated for trailers with 3 axles. It is very easy to use and set up, and would work great for you. We also offer the brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3035-P for the Prodigy. The adapter allows you to plug the controller into the existing installation port located under the dash.
