To hit the woods with your pop-up, you'll need a hitch, ball mount, trailer ball and wiring to provide power for the trailer lights and beer. (Just seeing if you're paying attention!)

I'd recommend the Curt Class III, part # 13591, the Curt ball mount part # C45030 and for a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball you can use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball. You'll also need a pin and clip, part # PC3 or a locking hitch pin, part # e98882. The coupler of your pop-up should say what ball size you need. For wiring, use the Tow Ready T-One connector, part # 118494.

This is the set-up you'll need if your pop-up uses a 4-pole trailer connector. If it has a 7-way, but no trailer brakes, you'd simply need to add an adapter, part # 37185. If the pop-up has electric brakes and you want them to actuate, you'd need a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. To install the controller, the # ETBC7 brake controller install kit would be needed. The kit includes the 37185 adapter mentioned above, plus all the wire, hardware and circuit breakers needed.

I'll link you to the installation instructions for the hitch, trailer connector wiring and brake controller installation kit. Your install will be almost exactly like what's outlined in those instructions, with the exception of connecting the red wire on the brake controller to the stop lamp signal. The procedure for doing this in a Terrain/Equinox is a little different.

As you are sitting in the drivers seat, the BCM (Body Control Module) is located under the dash above where your left knee would be. The module (think of it as a junction box) will have 7 different wire connectors that plug into it. Look for the black connector (all the connectors are different colors) that has 26 different slots for wires to insert into. In wire position # 11, there will be a white wire that carries the brake stoplight signal. Use the quick connector to tap the red brake controller wire into this circuit, and you will be good to go. Be sure to use a circuit tester like part # 40376 to confirm that the white wire only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed.
