Installing CE Smith Lighted Guide Posts
Question:
In my opinion, the recommended instructions give an unprofessional look with wires showing at the bottom of the PVC tubes. Instead, Im considering running the wires down through the galvanized arm exiting at the short end and making the connections inside the tail light box. Or, for an even neater finish, drilling a small exit hole in the galvanized arm for the wires and making the connects inside the tail the light box. Do you see any problem with drilling an exit hole in the galvanized arm? I will prime and paint any exposed metal. Thanks. Ps. Also may need to cut an 1inch from the short end of the arm, as it butts up against the bumper guides. Again, priming and painting exposed metal. Or, drilling small exit holes in the galvanized arms for the wires, then connecting inside light fixture. In my opinion, the recommended instructions give a sloppy in my opinion. Or, drilling small exit holes in th arms for the wires Better

I'd agree with you. What you describe is exactly how I would install it. You'll want to use a grommet on the hole you drill in the galvanized arm to protect the wires from rubbing against the metal. You will also probably have a heckuva time getting paint to stick to anything that's been galvanized, you might find that you'll have to sand off the galvanized coating first, then paint.
