Troubleshooting Dim LED Trailer Lights after New Wiring and Light Assembly Installation
Question:
I ran new wire on my trailer and put new led lights on it but all I get is a very light dot in the lights. It almost seems like its not getting enough power to them. What do I need to do?

The problem is either the power or the ground side of the wiring of the LED assemblies. First thing to do is check that 12 volts are making it to the trailer connector. You can use a circuit tester like our part # 3808. Next, trace the wiring back to the light assembly testing as you go with the circuit tester to make sure the voltage is making it to the light assemblies.
Next, you need to make sure the ground wire of the light assemblies are connected to a clean, metal surface. If you have an aluminum trailer you will need to run the ground wire of the light to the main ground circuit of your trailer at the trailer connector.
I attached an FAQ on trailer wiring for you to check out also.
