Can a 2006 Chevy/GMC Silverado or Sierra 1500 Tow a 19ft 1968 Forester Camper

Question:

My truck does not have a manufacture tow package and will need some adapting work anyway. Question is, do I have enough truck to pull third camper?

To determine the capacity of your 2006 Chevy/GMC Silverado or Sierra 1500 you will want to check the owners manual. Trucks can be configured in so many different ways with different motor and transmission options that the easy way to determine capacity is to check the manual.

If the truck has a towing capacity greater than the gross trailer weight of the 1968 Forester Camper then you will be good to go with the proper equipment. For a Trailer hitch you can get up to a 16k capacity hitch, # BWHDRH25217 (regular bumper required, does not fit SS models). But you would still be limited to the capacity of the truck. Hitch # 75362, will also fit regular bumper models excluding the SS and it is rated for up to 8,000 pounds when using weight distribution.

If you go with the B&W hitch then I also recommend ball mount # BWBMHD30010, pin and clip # PC3, and # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

If you go with the lower capacity hitch I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If your truck did not come with a trailer connector then you will also need # HM40975. You will also likely need some sort of adapter for the trailer if you can tell me what type of connector it has.
