Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Custom Brackets for 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 6.5 ft Bed
Question:
Looking for slider 5th wheel hitch for 2005 Chevy 2500hd 6.5ft bed. Need install kit rails and hitch. Local store says a Curt 16616 hitch is the one I need, but I type in my vehicle and you guys say the 16516. Want the no drill custom brackets. Whats the difference between the two and which way should I go? Thanks

The Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, # C16616, that the local store recommended, is a kit that includes the hitch and the universal installation kit.
The Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, # 16516, that we recommend, is strictly the hitch by itself. You would then need to add the Custom Install Kit, # C16418-204. This is definitely the way to go if you want to avoid drilling and be able to use the existing holes in your Silverado's frame.
If you need a 7-pole connector for the bed of your truck, I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness, # 41157. This T-connector wiring harness uses the factory tow package to add a 7-way socket to your truck bed while also retaining the use of the 7-way on your bumper.
