Looking for Replacement 7-Way Trailer Connector for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
Question:
I need to replace the towing receptacle 7 way plug for a 2002 Avalanche 1500 4WD. The product I am looking for includes the plug and a short wire that snaps into the other wire that is located next to the spare tire. The problem I am having is finding the right connection to the existing wire under the vehicle. It is not round like the ones in the picture. It is rectangular. The two rectangular pieces snap together to complete the connection. I looked at the local auto shops and could not find a single connection that even remotely resembled the one on my truck. Can you help me find the correct one?

I think you might be following the wire harness back a bit too far. The round plug you mention should plug directly into the back of your existing 7-way, as shown in the provided photo. The round plug that plugs into the rear of the 7-way is called a US Car Connector. Once you unplug the harness from your exisiting 7-way, you can replace it with your choice of 7-way. I really like the Pollak # PK11916.
