Is Suspension Enhancement Required for Carrying a Wheelchair and Carrier on a 2003 Dodge Stratus

Question:

WILL I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO THE SPRINGS TO SUPPORT THE WHEELCHAIR AND THE LIFT TOGETHER?

Helpful Expert Reply:

If the combined weight of your wheelchair and lift is less than 300 lbs then you would be good to use the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36301 without suspension enhancement.

If your setup weighs more than 300 lbs there isn't anything that can be done to your rear suspension to give you additional capacity. If this is the situation your only options would be to get a small trailer for the wheel chair or upgrade to a vehicle that can have a higher capacity hitch installed on.
