Parts Needed & Easiest to Set up For Flat Towing 2015 GMC Canyon

Question:

Hi. I have a 2019 Georgetown 36B5 RV that I want to flat tow my 2015 GMC Canyon 4wd truck behind. I need a system that is all encompassing and is the least complicated when it comes to hooking up and unhooking the truck to be driven normally. Please provide me with the best system and pricing. Thanks!

Hi Mahana,

We can get you set up to flat tow your 2015 GMC Canyon, and I'll make a list of all the parts you need, focusing on the simplest to use. Here is what you'll need:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523182-5

- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676

- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152

- Roadmaster Battery Disconnect - GAS Engine # RM-766
OR
- Roadmaster Battery Disconnect - DIESEL Engine # RM-766

- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251

- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR

Let's start with the Nighthawk, which is by far the easiest tow bar to use because it self aligns and locks when hooking up so you don't have to make constant little adjustments, has levers you pull which are non-binding for simple disconnect, LED lights to help after the sun goes down (or before it comes up if you're an early riser), and even comes with safety cables and an electrical plug.

Then for the braking system, after the initial install, there's really nothing at all to do. It turns on when your Canyon is connected to your motorhome and gives you smooth braking at the same intensity with which you hit your RVs brakes.

Then for the battery disconnect, these have a switch so it truly couldn't be easier to ensure your battery is off when you flat tow your truck. Just be sure to get the right one depending on if your Canyon is gas or diesel.

Finally, to protect your truck from rocks and other debris hitting it while you are flat towing, I do recommend considering a rock guard, the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750.
