Replacement Condenser Units For A Dometic DuoTherm Two Unit System  

Question:

I would like to replace both my air conditioners on my RV. My front AC unit is a Dometic 936000716 and my rear AC is a Duotherm 630035.321. I currently have a 5 button thermostat. Can you tell me what options I have for replacements for both 13.5k and 15k BTU AC units? Do I need a new thermostat?

Hey Bradley,

If you're just wanting to replace the rooftop units and keep your current air distribution boxes and thermostat then you'll just need to check the wiring to determine if you have a 6-pin or 9-pin connector. If you remove the air distribution cover you should be able to look up and see the wire harness hanging down from the rooftop condenser unit and plugged into the controller. If you don't see it then Dometic probably mounted it inside the rooftop condenser unit and you'll need to remove it and DIY mount it into the ceiling to switch units.

If you have a 6-pin connector then you can use any of the following units:

13,500 BTU White # FR26PR - Black # FR76PR
15,000 BTU White # FR58PR - Black # FR86PR

If you have a 9-pin connector then you can use any of the following units:

13,500 BTU White # FR82PV - Black # FR62PV
15,000 BTU White # FR42PV - Black # FR32PV

If you want to you can put a 15,000 BTU unit in place of a 13,500 BTU to increase your system's efficiency as well. If you want to just replace the entire system then you could go with either the White # FR24FJ or Black # FR47FJ.

The thermostat to AC units and furnaces use a RJ11 cable which looks like a phone cord and has 4 tiny wires to it to control the unit from the Dometic CCC 5 button.

@Brad The thermostat should run to a separate box called the 'controller' that is also wired to your condenser (rooftop unit) with either a 6-pin or 9-pin connector and to power (circuit breaker in your power center). Since you're keeping the same controller the thermostat wiring won't need to be touched.
