How High Will Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Sit on 1999 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty with add a leaf on rear how low will this rack be to ground, not concerned about it hitting ground, just curious how high I would have to lift to get my TotGuard E-Bike weighing about 70 pounds,on rack .here are photos of my truck receiver measurements and E-Bike

Looking at your measurement there it appears as though the top of the hitch is approximately 24" off the ground. The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR has a rise of 7" so expect to lift your e-bike about 31" to get it on the rack. If that is too much I recommend pulling the battery so it is easier to lift. Also, now that I see the full frame of your particular TotGuard you will likely need the # HRBA-PRO as well.

We have options with a ramp like the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 along with the Extra-Long Loading Ramp # TH933402. However, these cannot support a 70 lb e-bike so you would still be removing the battery to use the bike rack.

What are ideas if I got a 4 inch drop pitch for this rack to install to make it lower? Have you ever heard of that thank you.

@Kevin that is a good idea and something I should have thought of. You could use the Gen-Y Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-304 with a 7-1/2" drop or # 325-GH-305 with a 10" drop to get that closer to the ground. These don't reduce tongue weight capacity like an adapter and have a tongue weight capacity of 1,500 lbs so they can handle anything you throw at them. If you want to use them for towing as well the full version with the ball mount is # 325-GH-314 and # 325-GH-515.

@RobinH sorry for all the dumb questions so if I got the 7 1/2 inch drop hitch that would make it plenty low enough ?

@Kevin just an FYI I added a bike adapter bar to this answer. After seeing the full frame of your TotGuard you're probably going to need it. I looked up pictures for the previous answer and thought I found the model you have but it had a traditional top tube on it, yours does not.
