Replacement Torsion Inserts for Curt A-Series 5th Wheel Hitches
Question:
Hello. I have a Curt A30 5th wheel hitch head with the GMC puck-system base purchased from e-trailer. Have been towing with it for almost three years now. We are full-timers so tow with it every 2-3 months. Lately, we have heard/felt a clunkfoot when taking off from a stop. Seems like the trailer is slipping backwards slightly. Bolts/nuts are all at torque on the hitch. Could this be worn torsion s? Something else? Thanks!

If you have verified everything else on your A30 hitch is secure and tight then it would be a good idea to replace the torsion inserts. You will need the Replacement Torsion Inserts for Curt A-Series 5th Wheel Hitches item # C62NR. These help absorb road shock and it sounds like you put a lot of miles on your trailer so they could have easily worn down.
Another more serious issue that would cause a similar feeling is your truck's transmission slipping or there being a delay further down the drivetrain.
