Hey Jason, it sounds like you are maybe asking if the Curt trailer wiring harness part # 56407 could possibly power the taillights of your vehicle due to a parasitic draw you are experiencing? If so, this could do that but it wasn't intended to do so.

If instead you were asking if this can be used for trailer wiring without draining the battery of the car it is installed in the answer to that is yes. It would not drain the battery if left installed.
