Does Fixed B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Fit Short BEd 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500

Question:

Is there a non sliding 5th wheel hitch available to fit my OEM puck system on my 2019 Chevrolet 3500 without using a hitch-to- puck adapter? Dont want to use the gooseball. Is the 8ft. bed puck spacing the same as my 6 1/2 bed ? I am currently using a Curt E16 roller hitch with Curts GM OEM puck system adapter but have never needed to use the slider. My preference would be a B&W companion or similar. Thanks, Paul M.

Hi Paul, that's a good question and I certainly don't blame you for wanting to go to a fixed hitch without an adapter. And thankfully the answer is yes, you can use a fixed hitch in the puck system of your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500, including the one you prefer, which is the Companion. The correct part number for that is the following:

- B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3700

You made a superb choice going with the Companion # BWRVK3700 because it gives you the smoothest ride you can get when towing a 5th wheel trailer. The reason for that is the1 inch thick jaw system that has a tolerance - the space between where the jaws meet - of +/- .002 inch. What this does is give vice-like grip around the king pin so it doesn't rattle. You're going to notice a very big difference between this and your E16.
