Hi Randall,
For a 2002 Ford F-150 I have to go with the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. This brake controller has one of the smallest footprints on the market, making one of the easiest brake controllers to install into the dash. For your vehicle there's even a Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED87FR to make your installation fast and easy, with no splicing. The control knob allows you to easily adjust your gain or manually activate the trailer brakes in a sway event to straighten back out.
The Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, 7-Way # 118242 you were looking at would also be an easy plug and play option to install a 7-way on your F-150. I've attached a couple of videos below where Joe band Brad will walk you through the installation process.
