Which Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch For 5,000 lb Airstream Travel Trailer

Question:

I am considering the Reese 49911 for my airstream travel trailer. The tongue weight is 520 lbs with GVWR of 5000. I would be towing with a 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn Hemi torque with tow package. Thanks

I think you'll need to go up a level in weight rating for your 5,000 lb GVWR Airstream travel trailer. The reason being the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution # RE34FR is for loaded tongue weights between 200 lbs and 600 lbs. I assume the 520 lbs is the dry tongue weight, and generally tongue weight is 12-15 percent of a trailer's GVWR.

If the 520 lbs is your loaded tongue weight the # RE34FR will work, but the option I know for sure will is the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution # RE94FR.

The # RE94FR is for loaded tongue weights between 400 lbs and 800 lbs which your 5k Airstream travel trailer will 100 percent be in the range of, so that's the route I'd go.
