Installing Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner # HM50002 in 2011 Toyota Sequoia

Question:

Can you do a video on how to install HM50002 on top of the rear view mirror to a 2011 SR5 toyota sequoia? And, will the cable included in the package be long enough for the installation?

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 is not vehicle-specific; it can be installed in a wide range of vehicles. The install process will be essentially the same for any vehicle and for reference I have linked you to a video showing installation in a 2010 Nissan Titan. Details for this vehicle may vary from your application but the overall process will be identical.

You will simply need to unplug the round wiring harness connector from the back of the 7-way at the rear of your Sequoia. This Hopkins system plugs in-line between this round connector and your 7-way socket; the 7-way will remain active even after the camera is installed.

The included 19-foot 7-inch cable is long enough for most applications, but the exact manner of routing the cable and your choice of location for the display will affect the amount of extra slack. We do offer two lengths of cable extensions, part # HM3100504060 is a 5-foot extension and # HM3100504061 is a 25-foot extension. You can use a 19-foot length of string or wire to try a test-fit to help you decide if you will want either of the extensions.

I suggest you use plastic zip ties to secure the cable along the driver-side frame rail. You will want to be certain to route the cable to avoid hot areas like the exhaust and moving parts such as the suspension components. A great method is to secure the cable to existing OEM wiring running along the vehicle frame.
