Are The Square Hole Spacers Required on Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75270 & Where To Get More

Question:

Hi! I have a Drawtite 75720 trailer hitch that I want to mount to my 2009 Honda Odyssey. I have the bolts and conical washers but not the 1/4x1.5x3inch rectangular spacers. Are the spacers required? What is their function? The instruction drawing show the spacers faintly as if they are optional. Do you sell just the spacers? Thanks!

Expert Reply:

The spacers used on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75270 are used to space the receiver off of the frame enough so it does not hit the parts of the frame which do not fit flush with the frame where the bolts align. The only way we offer these particular spacers is in the Replacement Hardware Kit # RHK. Per Draw-Tite they are required for the installation.
