is this the best option for an airstream base camp? this particular rv is manufactured very differntly. a standard sway hitch can really do some damage to these units!

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control is the best style of weight distribution for an Airstream Base Camp, and Airstream actually features a video of this system being installed on their trailer so we know we can't go wrong there.
The part # BLU47FR you referenced has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs which is likely too heavy for the loaded tongue weight of the Base Camp so going the next step down with part # BLU36FR which has a tongue weight range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs is much more likely the best fit for your trailer.
Be sure that your loaded trailer tongue weight is 10-15% the weight of your trailer, and then choose a weight distribution system with a range that your loaded tongue weight falls about in the middle of for best performance.
