Recommended Weight Distribution System for a Jayco Jay Feather Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2020 GMC Canyon Denali. Curb weight is 4300 pounds. Tow capacity is 7000 pounds. Looking for a weight distribution system to pull a 2019 Jayco Featherlite, X17Z. The GVW of the trailer is 3500 pounds and has a pintle for a 2inch diameter ball. We do not tow with water, so we are below the 3500 pounds GVW. Been looking and cant find WDS in this range, all are higher. What do you recommend and why?

Weight distribution systems are selected based off of tongue weight which is typically between 10% - 15% of your trailer's total weight. Since you're not hauling water your trailer's tongue weight should be between 300 lbs - 400 lbs depending on what's mounted on your tongue. With as light of a trailer as you have their aren't many options for that low of a tongue weight which is probably what has caused your confusion.

With all of this in mind, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37040ET. This system works with tongue weights up to 400 lbs so you won't be over capacity if you're on the lower 300 lbs end.

The Equal-i-zer item # EQ37040ET has built in 4 point sway control that will keep your trailer in line with your truck when you're driving down the highway and get passed by a semi or make a sudden move. This system includes a 2" shank and a 2" hitch ball.

I have linked a review video below so you can see the functions of this system demonstrated.
